Eat Fugu

Eating something that could potentially kill you within minutes is probably not on the priority list of many; however, fugu – a highly toxic fish – has been drawing restaurant goers in Japan for decades.

Fugu, the Japanese term for pufferfish, is said to contain a poison far more potent than cyanide – 1200 times in fact – without an antidote available. The poison is abundant in the stomach contents of the fish as opposed to the flesh which is why customers queue up to get a taste. The flesh is usually dished up as sashimi, cut paper thin and arranged on plates in the shape of flower petals. It can also be served up in a broth with vegetables, with some parts like the skin and fins able to be deep fried.

A highly prized dish, fugu can only be served by highly trained and licensed chef and should not be attempted by amateurs. Supposedly it tastes great but so too do many other species of fish that won’t kill you. Are you game enough?
