Just in time for World Whiskey Day, Westward Whiskey has released its third permanent expression with the Westward Single Malt Pinot Noir Cask which has been awarded the Double Gold at the 2021 San Francisco Spirits Awards.
The Pinot Noir cask is made from scratch in the Westward Whiskey Distillery in Portland, USA and is a tribute to Oregon’s legendary Willamette Valley wine country. The cask-finished tipple reflects the vibrance of the Valley’s signature grape and allows bold, robust notes of the whiskey to shine through.
The Pinot Noir Cask begins with the original Westward American Single Malt, which is then finished for up to two years in French Oak wine casks from a handful of award-winning producers in the region.
It boasts a sweet and fruity aroma, followed by a deep rich and nutty malt taste with hints of hazelnut, plum and vanilla.
Alongside the release, Westward has revealed a new look and custom bottle design that pays homage to the whiskey’s Northwest provenance and indelible link to culture, climate and natural ingredients of the American Northwest.
