Western Digital (WD) has relaunched its G-DRIVE range as the unified identity for its content creator and creative professional external storage portfolio.
The move brings WD’s desktop drives, portable drives and multi-bay RAID systems together under the G-DRIVE brand and its iconic ‘G’ logo, reinforcing its focus on high-capacity, high-performance storage solutions for demanding creative workflows including high-resolution photography, video production, graphic design and audio engineering.
“G-DRIVE has become synonymous with reliable, high-capacity, high-performance storage for all creatives and all stages, from enthusiast to professional,” WD director of product management, Darrin Bulik, says.
“By consolidating our content creator storage portfolio under this established and trusted brand, we’re honouring that legacy while leveraging WD’s industry-leading storage innovations to deliver the tools creators need to bring their vision to life.”
The refreshed G-DRIVE lineup includes rugged portable solutions, high-capacity desktop drives and professional RAID systems designed to support the full creative lifecycle from on-set capture and real-time editing to backup and postproduction.
The range includes:
- G-DRIVE ArmorATD: A rugged portable drive offering up to 6TB capacity, with triple-layer shock resistance, IP54-rated dust and water protection and a durable aluminium enclosure for mobile workflows.
- G-DRIVE: A desktop drive featuring enterprise-class Ultrastar HDD storage up to 26TB, delivering fast transfer speeds and sustained performance for editing, backup and archiving.
- G-DRIVE PROJECT: A single-bay Thunderbolt three desktop solution with enterprise-class Ultrastar HDD storage up to 26TB for high-performance workloads.
- G-RAID PROJECT 2: A compact two-bay Thunderbolt three RAID system, shipping in RAID zero, with field-swappable Ultrastar drives up to 52TB for accelerated post-production performance.
- G-RAID SHUTTLE 4 and SHUTTLE 8: Transportable four-bay and eight-bay RAID arrays with hot-swappable Ultrastar drives up to 208TB, configured in RAID five by default and designed for on-set data management and multi-camera productions.
