Upright GO has your back

I love writing and being able to make a living from it has taken me on plenty of cool adventures; however, sitting at a desk the majority of the time has done little to help my back and shoulders.

My name is Justin Felix and I’ve got bad posture. Yep, I’m not afraid to admit it.

If you too work in an office job, you’ve likely caught yourself slouching on a regular basis. There’s a chance you’ve tried to correct it for all of five minutes too. But it’s easy to get back into hunching over the keyboard once you’ve forgotten your promise to correct your bad posture.

The team at Upright knows this situation all too well and have developed the Upright GO 2 to ensure posture awareness stays front of mind.

The little gadget is made to stick on the top of your back between your shoulder blades and buzzes whenever you slip into the bad habit of slouching or leaning over your desk. While irritating at first, you quickly remember that it’s for your own benefit.

To kick things off, you download the free app and sync it with your device to track your progress.

The device sticks to your back via a hypoallergenic adhesive that can be re-applied around 10 times before you switch it out for a fresh one. I wasn’t convinced they’d keep the device on my back but they were surprisingly super strong, while not leaving any marks when peeling off. It’s small enough that you don’t even notice it between your shoulder blades.

Upright GO 2 features two modes: training and tracking. In training mode, your device will gently vibrate whenever you slouch. You can adjust the sensitivity and vibration in the app. Tracking mode turns off vibration alerts, and keeps accurate stats on your posture throughout the day using enhanced, multi-sensor technology.

The idea is to create a daily training session that lasts anywhere from 10-15 minutes. From there you can just put the device into tracking mode and monitor your posture throughout the day.

So while I still slip into slouching by habit, I’ve definitely improved my posture just because of the awareness factor. And that’s the best thing about this tiny gadget. It keeps you honest about your posture. So if you’ve got concerns or simply want to improve the way you feel, give this little number a GO.
