As the craft beer and cider trend continues in Australia, Dan Murphy’s and BWS are releasing a range of brews from some of Australia’s leading craft breweries.

“We are seeing a strong demand for innovative, experimental and simply delicious flavours in beer and cider – this is fast becoming the new Australian taste preference, driven by our increasing desire to elevate and moderate our drinking experiences,” Dan Murphy’s category manager, craft beer Billy Ryan says.

He adds that the abundance of access to a wide variety of quality fresh ingredients on our doorstep gives Australian craft breweries a huge advantage, letting them push the boundaries of flavour and get really creative with new recipes.

A perfect example of this is the Coldstream Rose Cider which is handcrafted in the Yarra Valley from 100% crushed Victorian apples and cold fermented with a blend of shiraz and pinot grapes.

“We wanted to play with the two techniques of cider and wine-making and bring these two favourites together,” Coldstream brewery director Rohan Peters says,

“The result is the best of both worlds – the perfect blend of quality apple cider delicately interlaced with the subtle moorish taste of rosé wine. Perfect for enjoying with friends and food on any occasion.”

Zytho Beers, launched by Tribe Brewery has jumped on the tropical, fruity beer trend with its Zytho Tropical Haze. The brew features citra, amarillo and mosaic hops by the bucketload to give a fruity, juicy mouthful with hints of passionfruit and pineapple.

Another addition from Zytho is the White Stout which gets its name from the lighter colour. It has notes of coffee, a hint of vanilla and rich dark chocolate on sip, making for an easy-drinking stout.

For those into low-alcohol beer, Big Drop Pine Trail Pale Ale ticks all the boxes. The 0.5% ABV American pale ale is made with barley, wheat and magnum, mosaic and amarillo hops and features rosy floral aromas on pour with a light limey citrus bite.

“The team at the award-winning Big Drop Brewing Co. have perfected the technique of producing an authentic tasting beer without artificially removing the alcohol and Big Drop Pine Trail Pale Ale is a testament to their skill.  Low alcohol beers are growing in popularity, particularly amongst health-conscious Millennials,” Billy says.

“They want to enjoy all the flavour benefits and enjoy the beer-drinking occasion but prefer to moderate their alcohol consumption.”

All these brews, and more, can be found at Dan Murphy’s and BWS stores.
