September 16th marks Mexican Independence Day, and there’s no better way to celebrate Mexican culture than with a selection of premium Tequila cocktails.
Rejoiced by Mexicans around the globe, it is the anniversary of the country’s independence from Spain. To commemorate this day of freedom, Cazcabel Tequila, a range of premium and authentic tequilas that have just launched in Australia, has shared its best cocktail recipes.
Blessed by Don Cazcabel, the mythical Mexican curador and “Snakeman” of the Jalisco Mountains, Cazcabel’s range includes Blanco, Coffee, Reposado and Honey tequilas.
Cazcabel Blanco is a spirit fashioned from sun-baked blue weber agave from the heart of the Jalisco region. For those wanting an espresso hit, Cazcabel Coffee blends in a sweet hit of luxury coffee to its earthy agave base.
For something sweeter, Cazcabel Honey – one of the world’s first honey tequilas, is rich and sweet with beautiful notes of warm honey. Another Mexican favourite, Cazcabel Reposado, is rested in American oak barrels for nine to eleven months and balances the beautiful, clean and earthy agave flavour of the double-distilled Blanco with the complex but subtle aromas of toasted oak.

PASSIONFRUIT MARGARITA
Glass: Couple Glass
Garnish: Passionfruit
Ingredients:
- 45ml Cazcabel Blanco Tequila
- 25m Lime Juice
- 20ml Cointreau / Triple Sec
- 5ml Passionfruit Syrup
- 1 Fresh Passionfruit
Method:
Muddle a passionfruit and add the rest of the ingredients. Shake ingredients with ice and then strain. Garnish with a passionfruit, cut in half.
TERRY’S CHOC
Glass: Rocks Glass
Garnish: Orange Twist
Ingredients:
- 40ml Cazcabel Coffee Tequila
- 20ml Aperol
- 20ml Espresso
Method:
Shake ingredients over ice and strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice. Garnish with an orange peel squeezed over glass and added in.
REPOSADO PALOMA FLIP
Glass: Rocks Glass
Garnish: Orange Peel
Ingredients:
- 60mL Cazcabel Reposado Tequila
- 30mL Grapefruit Juice
- 30mL Sugar syrup
- 15mL lime juice
- 1 egg
- 1 dash of grapefruit or aromatic bitters
Method:
Double shake the ingredients and strain into a rocks glass with ice. Garnish with an orange peel.
THE HUNNY POT
Glass: Rocks Glass
Garnish: Lime Wheel
Ingredients:
- 40mL Cazcabel Honey Tequila
- 10mL Cazcabel Reposado Tequila
- 40mL Fresh apple juice
Method:
Shake all the ingredients with ice and finely strain over a clear block of ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.
