Cooper Brewery, renowned for its cloudy ales, is going hazy with the launch of its Hazy IPA, a limited-edition seasonal release available in kegs and cans across Australia from 17 August 2020.
Hazy beers are characterised by their intense juicy, fruit-forward aroma, soft carbonation, creamy mouth feel and hazy, opaque appearance that take cloudy beers to a whole new level.
Coopers managing director and chief brewer Tim Cooper describes the new beverage as a hoppy, sessionable, easy to drink beer with tangerine, orange, citrus and exotic fruit flavours and aromas as a result of the liberal use of Ahtanum and Strata hops. It has an ABV of 6.2% and a bitterness level of 27 International Bitterness Units (IBU).
“It’s a softer, easy-drinking beer that fits comfortably within the New England IPA style as opposed to more aggressive West Coast IPAs,” he says.
“Hazy beers are attracting considerable attention internationally, with their distinct appearance in a glass making for interesting conversations.”
Coopers cloudy beers are a result of yeast particles left in suspension following a unique secondary fermentation process used to create natural carbonation.
Coopers Hazy IPA uses protein rich malts, including wheat, combined with the liberal hop additions to form the hazy appearance.
It will be sold in four packs rather than six packs, with four packs expected to retail for around $22.
